Please support my sister, filmmaker Christie Herring, and Stanford professor Estelle Freedman on their marvelous documentary project Faith Petric: Singing For Justice. Faith lived an almost unbelievable life. SINGING FOR JUSTICE is a cinematic portrait of Faith Petric (1915 - 2013), San Francisco folk musician and community builder who lent her voice to social justice movements in the Bay Area and nationally for over half a century. More than a biography, this film will weave Petric's personal history within the contexts of the labor, civil rights, peace, and women’s movements since the 1930s, creating a lyrical portrait of a uniquely powerful voice for justice. It will draw from interviews with Petric and her family and friends, as well as extensive archival footage of her performances and the times in which she lived.
